Thermal flying depends heavily on the sun-induced updrafts and therefore takes place primarily during the warmer months. On high mountains (such as Rigi, Pilatus, and Fronalpstock), thermal flying is possible year-round.

You'll be flying alone with your instructor. The pilot will actively look for updrafts (thermal tubes) to help you gain altitude.

By soaring in the thermals, you’ll stay in the air significantly longer than on a standard sightseeing flight. If the minimum flight time of 30 minutes is not reached due to a lack of thermals, you will only be charged for the sightseeing flight.
